Why we bundled HRMS into an SEO tool (and why it makes sense)

Adding HR software to an SEO platform sounds weird until you realize: a 15-person SEO agency IS the use case. Here's why HRMS lives inside ItzSEO Agency tier.

The most common reaction when someone first sees ItzSEO Agency tier is: 'Wait, there's HRMS in here?' Usually said with eyebrows raised. It does sound strange. SEO tools track keywords. HR tools track attendance. What are those two doing in the same product?

The answer is that the buyer is the same person. A 10–15 person SEO agency owner has two daily questions: (1) is our SEO work moving the needle for clients, and (2) is my team showing up, hitting deliverables, and getting paid correctly. Today they answer #1 in Ahrefs + Surfer and #2 in Bambee + a spreadsheet. We bundled both into one tool because the same person opens both surfaces every morning.

What's actually in there

The HRMS in ItzSEO Agency isn't a thin add-on — it's a full per-workspace configurable system. Shipped in Phase 31:

  • Attendance: clock-in / clock-out with shift policies + auto-close cron for forgotten clock-outs.
  • Leave: per-leave-type quotas (SL/CL/EL/comp-off), approval workflow, holiday calendar deductions.
  • Shifts: per-employee or per-team shift assignments, weekly/monthly rotations.
  • Overtime: auto-detect on Sunday work or shift overruns, approval flow, comp-off credit.
  • Reports: monthly attendance grid + leave usage rollup + OT report, all with CSV export for payroll handoff.

Honest framing — when it's NOT for you

If you're a solo freelancer, you don't need HRMS. Skip the Agency tier and stay on Growth. If your agency is 50+ employees with dedicated HR staff, Bambee or Rippling probably fits better — they bundle compliance consultancy we don't. ItzSEO HRMS targets the 5–30 person sweet spot where you're too big for spreadsheets and too small to justify $99/mo of standalone HR software.

What we learned shipping it

Building HRMS taught us things about agency operators we didn't know before. The biggest surprise: leave-balance calculation is hard. Different agencies have different fiscal years. Different leave types accrue differently. Public holidays in India differ from the US, and 'comp-off' (compensatory leave for working a holiday) is a specifically Indian concept that doesn't map to US PTO models. The configurable-per-workspace design wasn't optional — it was required to ship at all.

What we kept simple on purpose: no payroll calculation. We hand off a CSV; you import into QuickBooks / Razorpay Payroll / Zoho / Gusto. Payroll is a regulated activity per country; we don't want to be in that business. ItzSEO HRMS handles everything up to the export.
