AI budgets — daily free pool + recharge credits
Every workspace gets a free daily AI budget based on its plan tier. When that runs out, the AI draws from optional recharge credits (or pauses for the day).
AI calls cost money on the model provider side, so each workspace has a daily ceiling instead of an open tap. The default budget tracks plan tier:
- Free — $2/day
- Starter — $5/day
- Pro — $15/day
- Agency — $40/day
You can see today's spend, the last 30 days as a daily table, and the most recent agent actions at /settings/ai-history. The workspace owner can change the daily budget there (range $0–$200) — useful if your team is light AI users and you want to tighten it, or if you’ve grown to need more.
What happens when you hit the cap
The AI replies with a friendly “I’ve hit today’s AI budget for this workspace” message and waits until tomorrow. If the workspace has recharge credits loaded (a one-time top-up paid through Stripe — coming in the next release), the AI draws from them once the free pool is spent. You'll see today's spend split between “free” and “recharge” on the same page.
How the AI saves money on routine reads
Short read-only questions like “what tasks do I have” route through a cheaper, faster model (Haiku) while creation/approval/HR-decision actions use the more capable Sonnet model. You don’t pick — the AI does it based on your message. Read-heavy workspaces typically come in well under the $15/day default.
