Invite clients by email (external magic-link chats)

Open a chat with someone who doesn't have an ItzSEO account. They get a private link by email — no signup required.

From /messagesNew → choose Invite by email…. You’ll see a dialog with:

  • Chat title — what both sides see at the top of the conversation. E.g. “Acme Co — quarterly review”.
  • External invitees — at least one email + an optional display name per row. Press Enter to add the row to the list, × to remove. Up to 20 externals per chat.
  • Optional internal teammates — anyone in your workspace you want pulled in.

On Send, the invitees each get an email branded with your agency name (and logo, if you’ve set one under /settings/branding). The email has an Open the chat button that drops them on a chrome-less chat surface — no signup, no password.

You can re-invite or revoke any external from the chat's settings cog. Re-invite rotates the magic-link token + copies the new link to your clipboard so you can paste it elsewhere (Slack, WhatsApp) if the email is bouncing. Revoke kills the existing session instantly; their messages stay in history (audit trail).

What externals can't do

Externals can read, send messages, and attach files in the conversation they were invited to. They can’t see other conversations in your workspace, manage the roster, or sign into anything else. The link is per-conversation + per-person.

Security notes

The magic link is a 32-character random token. Forwarded links work (anyone holding the link becomes that external for chat purposes), so treat it like a password. If you suspect a link has been forwarded inappropriately, hit Revoke + Re-invite — the old link stops working immediately and a fresh one goes out.
