Team Chat — what it is and how it fits in
WhatsApp-style messaging inside your workspace: DMs, group chats, and magic-link invites for external clients.
Team Chat lives at /messages and is workspace- scoped — every conversation belongs to the workspace you’re currently signed into. There are three kinds of conversation:
- Direct message (DM) — a 1-on-1 chat with another teammate in your workspace.
- Group chat (internal) — three or more teammates with a title (e.g. “Web Design — Q3 standup”). Anyone in the workspace except CLIENT-role users can be added.
- External chat (magic-link) — invite people outside ItzSEO by email; they get a private link that lets them read + send messages without ever creating an account. Useful for client reviews, vendor coordination, freelancer handoffs.
Open Messages in the sidebar to see your inbox. The Inbox tab on mobile's bottom-nav shows your combined “unread notifications + unread chats” count — both kinds of attention bubble up in one number.
Chat is gated by a per-workspace feature flag. If you don’t see the Messages entry, ask your workspace owner to enable Team Chat from /settings/branding.
