Starting a direct message or group chat
Pick the right shape (DM vs group), add members, and send your first message.
On /messages, click New in the top-right of the inbox. You’ll see three options:
- Direct message — pick one teammate from the searchable list. If a DM already exists between the two of you, opening it reuses the existing thread instead of starting a duplicate.
- Group chat — give the chat a title and tick 1 or more teammates. You’re auto-added as the admin. Up to 50 internal members. You can rename, add / remove members, or leave from the chat header settings cog.
- Invite by email… — for clients or other people outside the workspace. See Invite clients by email below.
CLIENT-role users can’t be DM'd directly — that conversation belongs in the client portal request flow. The start dialog will block this with a clear error.
Composing
The composer supports plain text, file attachments (paperclip or drag-drop), screenshot paste (Cmd-V), and image compression for big photos. Press Enter to send, Shift+Enter for a newline. Up to 10 files per message, total cap 200 MB.
